SL66 SE Functions

The Rolleiflex SL 66 X was made from October 1982 until September 1992. In total, 500 of this model have been built only, making it the most rare of SL66 cameras (except for the gold plated version SL66SE Professional).

The main difference to the original SL66 is the integration of TTL metering for flash into the body. A cell in the bottom of the mirror house measures reflected light on the film plane for dedicated flash metering.

The X model does not have the metering system for average metering: it is a designated studio flash camera, but otherwise exactly the same as the SL66 Classic (with black new style exterior).

Flash metering works with SCA 300 system flashes (Metz and others) using the optional SCA 365 adapter. For use of any flash including studio flash systems, TTL flash metering is possible using the Rollei Flash Meter FM 1.

The Rolleiflex SL 66 X looks exactly like the SL 66 E camera on the outside. The technical difference is that the X model only has internal flash metering and no regular TTL metering. The order number for the X model was 560 375 (set), 560 370 (body). The price in 1987 was DM 4,850 ($ 2,425) and a total of 500 cameras of this model were made.

The SL 66 E and X have been updated technically inside, and on the out side, they look totally new due to the all black finish and new diamond grid rubber surface coating.

Film back for 120 or 220 films. Built-in bellows for up to 1,5x magnification without need for accessories. Bellows tilts up and down 8 degrees for extended depth of field.

Featuring the renowned Carl Zeiss designed Planar 80mm 2,8 HFT lens, for incredibly sharp and contrast rich pictures!
